Design 101: Don’t Decorate.
Get this out of your head: design is not about decoration. It is about art.
And if you think art is only about being pleasing to the eye, then please - for your own sake and all of ours - please stay out of the design business.

Quick Update: thatINDIEdude.com getting recognition as a top design!
Before I let out my first big post on design tomorrow, I wanted to throw out a quick update.
I was extremely surprised to come home today, check out google analytics, and see about 700 more visits today than I’ve been averaging. On top of that, several new friend requests on various social networks, a couple new twitter followers, and some other odd attention. I was pleased, but surprised.
So where was all this attention coming from?
Apparently, thatindiedude.com has been picked up on several of the big “best new designs on the web” sites, and they are feeding me TONS of traffic! In the last few hours, I’ve been on the front pages of the following sites (and maybe a few others I haven’t found yet):
A couple of those sites just get fed from the others, but the first three (at least) require voting to grab top spots. SO — if you get the chance, head over there and vote for thatindiedude.com !
